“I have to explore and experiment, scoring and scraping away the surface to discover what is hidden. I work with oil and wax and luscious layers of colour on panel, paper or canvas. Laying down and dissolving, rolling over and lifting. I am trying to create something of the experience of looking at our world. The chaos in Kathmandu, the stories of the hidden stones of the Ceide Fields in Mayo, the mussels clinging to the pink granite on the beaches in Donegal. And everywhere the weather and the reflection of the sky and our own brief lives’”
