Three nights of thrilling aerial dance performances from around the world.
Ireland’s international festival dedicated to aerial arts is finally back. And as part of their 2022 programme of shows and workshops, An Grianán will be hosting three nights of performances featuring aerialists from around the world. We’ve also kept ticket prices very low (from zero to €10)so if you haven’t experienced these amazing flying dancers in person before now’s your chance.
UPDATE: Unfortunately we’ve had to cancel Thursday night’s show case. The programme will now be split in two and added on to Friday and Saturday’s IADF events instead. If you have purchased a ticket please let us know if you wish to receive a refund or swap to Friday or Saturday night’s shows instead.

Then on Friday 8 July we have a double bill from two solo female performers. First up is Suzon Gheur (Belgium) with Tearaway, a show that deconstructs the stereotypes conveyed by the aerial world, such as thinness, flexibility, elegance and sensuality. It’s followed by Kathleen Doherty in Martyr, a multi-disciplinary performance blending dance, physical theatre, performance art and the aerial arts (NB: this show contains nudity and is suitable for an adult audience).

On Saturday 9 July the Emma Insley night features another double bill. Rachel Ní Bhraonáin and Robyn Byrne perform in Losing Your Body – a show about a dancer who might reach breaking point before reaching their big break. Like Lichen is a work in progress from Danish company The Amazing Other. Like lichen, the show suggests, we are also an organism, consisting of several beings, each with their own role to play.
