PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOPS FOR CREATIVES

This spring we are holding a series of professional development workshops aimed at performers, writers and producers working in the performing arts including theatre, dance, music, circus. All workshops are ages 18+ and are suitable for creatives at any stage of their career.

Write Future Dialogues with Dave Duggan
Join Oscar nominated dramatist and novelist Dave Duggan for this upbeat, creative event where you will write dialogues with a stranger you’ll meet in the future. Just bring your imagination. You will take your draft dialogues away with you and continue as you wish. Dave Duggan’s work includes an Oscar nominated short film, a fistful of plays for radio and stage, novels and a blog, in English and in Irish. His new collection of essays is Journeywork, A Creative Life.
Duration approx. 60 minutes followed by lunch.

An Arts Life: What The Hell Is Possible And How with Ultan Pringle
Actor, writer and theatre maker Ultan Pringle hosts a two hour workshop and discussion on the eternal question of how the hell to create a sustainable and engaging career in the Irish arts landscape. Exploring funding opportunities in Ireland and how best to approach them, nurturing your own creative practice amongst the madness and how to sustain yourself and your art, the workshop promises to be a hopeful and invigorating exploration of what’s possible.
Duration: 120 minutes.

Producing Essentials with Heather Rose
Producing is a big job, running the gamut from funding applications to hiring to insurance, plus the creative work of bringing ideas to life. It’s also a role that offers infinite variety and constant new challenges. This workshop by Heather Rose of Rose Producing will break down the role and responsibilities of a producer in the performing arts from project planning to final reporting. This will include thinking about audiences, financial planning, and communications. There will also be a chance to connect and network with other artists over a cup of tea or coffee, or to have a 1-2-1 consultation with Heather. This event is suitable for self-producing artists or emerging producers working in the performing arts (theatre, dance, music, circus).

Join award winning performer, writer and producer Xnthony for an exciting workshop tailored for emerging queer artists based in Donegal and the North West. This workshop is designed for those who are looking for guidance, space for contemplation and insights into navigating the ins and outs of the industry. Xnthony will provide support and mentorship, delving into discussions about your aspirations, creative vision, and the practicalities of developing a practice that is not only forward thinking, but also sustainable.
