We are very pleased to announce that our project Hello Charlie has been chosen by the Pavilion Theatre in Dun Laoghaire as one of 10 recipients of their annual Pavilion Donation Awards.
Hello Charlie is a play by Derry actor and writer Caoimhe Farren which we are producing with our partners SkelpieLimmer Productions and Front & Centre.
Originally developed as part of The Lyric’s New Playwrights Programme, Hello Charlie was shortlisted for The Women’s Prize for Playwriting and was a finalist for the inaugural Victoria Wood Playwriting Prize for Comedy.
Hello Charlie is a black comedy about trauma, sisterhood and breaking the cycle of familial addiction. Sisters Maeve and Kate have fled Derry for London. Maeve binge-drinks, dodging culpability for her drunken antics by blaming her alter-ego: Charlie. Kate worries.
Front & Centre are a collective dedicated to advancing women and non-binary playwrights from the North of Ireland. SkelpieLimmer Productions are an award winning theatre company who make work that discusses taboo subjects through the lens of comedy.
Thanks to this very generous award from the Pavilion and its patrons we are several steps closer to bringing Hello Charlie to the stage.
