As we enter into the month of May, we’re preparing to embark upon an exciting and vital new stage of The Viewing Project and we wanted to update you all on our gargantuan progress.
This month, The Viewing Project is off to a great start collaborating with Letterkenny Pride and An Grianán Youth Theatre and then presenting a performance across Pride Weekend. We will then begin our taster sessions with the Sister Sister Project working with sculpting and textile and we will also meet with the Ukrainian community in Gweedore where we’ll commence work on performance and mask making. These wonderful and dynamic community collaborations are in partnership with LYFS (Letterkenny Youth And Family Services).
The Viewing Project then travels to Ballyshannon and Carndonagh to begin workshops with Traveller communities in partnership with Donegal Traveller Project whilst on the border, artist Leanne McLaughlin will begin her workshops with Scoil Mhuire in Pettigo, County Donegal and with Kesh Primary School and Community Nursery in Kesh, County Fermanagh.
This Summer, The Viewing Project is rolling out workshops with our partners across the county working across a variety of artistic mediums. These include working with theatre performance for Foróige in Killybegs and then with Donegal Youth Service here in Letterkenny delivering a programme of music, lyric writing and graphic design. We will also announce very soon our in-house Viewing Project Programme where we will run workshop camps for next generation schemers and dreamers this summer here at An Grianán Theatre.
We are proud to be working with such a diverse and committed range of partners on the delivery of this robust and dynamic arts programme. The arts belong to everyone in Donegal and our border counties and we are tremendously excited to get stuck in over the coming months and deliver upon the core values of our Viewing Project: promoting dialogue, empowering people through artistic expression and fostering community.
We hope to see you out and about. Go raibh mile maith agaibh 🙂
The Viewing Project is supported by PEACEPLUS, a programme managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB).
