This May, we partnered with theatre artist Paul Curley to bring his project, The Elephant in the Room, to two local schools, Lurgybrack National School and Scoil Mhuire Gan Smal.
Paul brought his huge Elephant sculpture to each school for several days, with the aim of provoking conversation about things that are really obvious, yet we still find difficult to talk about.
Standing more than 3.5 metres high, this bespoke Elephant (designed and created by Ger Clancy with Paul Curley) stayed in each school for one week, allowing the whole school community to witness the wonder of this curious creature, inspiring conversations as well as igniting critical thinking.
A huge thank you to both schools for accommodating this exciting and unusual project.

The Elephant in the Room was made possible with the support of The Arts Council of Ireland Touring Award 2026 and was presented in partnership with Riverbank Arts Centre, Backstage Theatre, Draíocht, Mermaid Arts Centre, Dunamaise Arts Centre, An Grianán, Roscommon Arts Centre, and glór.
