An Grianán is proud to support this special show, bringing together many of our local companies for the first time.

Join us this December for this unique celebration of local talent. Featuring performances from companies including the Letterkenny Music and Drama Group, Workhouse Theatre Company, Pinehill Studios, Zara Holmes Performing Arts Academy, Rainbow Theatre Group, ZoNa Dance Company, Lifford Players Drama Group, An Grianán Youth Theatre and Triumph Performing Arts, this show aims to combine these collective talents in a production where you will be taken on an exciting journey through some of the best scenes in musical theatre, dance and drama.

A show that’s never been done before, featuring some of the best performers and talent in the Northwest, all joining together in theatrical celebration.

About the Groups:

Workhouse Theatre  are currently putting together scenes from the World of Musical Theatre, that includes ‘Tick, Tick, Boom’, and a selection of scenes from current Plays, straight from the West End. The actors and musical theatre performers are in fine-tuning mode, to put an a show of the highest standards for audiences to sit back and enjoy. Also, expect a few surprises. 

Zara Holmes Performing Arts Academy is based in the town of Castlefinn, Co. Donegal. This academy is solely run by the owner Zara Holmes who brings many years of Drama teaching experience. The Academy is dedicated to bringing out the best in its students through various teaching mediums not limited to individual classes as well a group classes and opportunities throughout the year to star in their Shows, and to also develop and nurture their creativity and imagination. The Academy also provides the opportunity to gain their Speech and Drama Grades each year with the Irish Music and Drama Board.
The group performing on stage are from their Senior classes and they will be showcasing a performance they took recently to the Main stage in the RDS, Dublin at the recent Perform Festival. This was this Groups 3rd time to be given a Main stage window. They will be dancing to tunes from the Musical Hamilton choregraphed by Zara Holmes and Stephen Carlin (Urban Shock Dance)

Directed by Jessica Peoples ZoNa Dance Company was founded 2011 and teaches ballet, jazz, contemporary dance and acro dance, Pilates and yoga classes throughout Donegal and Northern Ireland. The company and school began with the vision of bringing classical dance to the young people of the northwest of Ireland. The growth since the time of the inception of the school has increased and developed beyond the original vision. The dancers have had wonderful opportunities over the years to be invited to dance in professional dance festivals and produce original pieces of choreography, they have been displayed at numerous events, international film festivals and have made a very reputable annual end of year showcase. Zona has prepared students to become members of the Irish National Youth Ballet, and have had students successfully audition for third level college/university in Ireland, USA, England, Scotland, France & Spain. Many of their senior dancers have pursued professional careers in dance. For this show they are preparing two ZonaDance presentations, as well as collaborations with other groups and performers. Come and see what they have in store for us !

Pinehill Studios was established in 2013 by Sarah-Marie McDevitt and has now grown from two studios to five, becoming a hub for independant facilitators to operate, growing and developing their own business under the umbrella of the studios. For this show they will be showcasing dancers from the Studios in a performance choreographed by Nicole, Ashley, Cara and Leah, and written and directed by Sarah-Marie.

The Letterkenny Music and Drama Group was formed in Letterkenny in 1991 and have had continuing success since then producing both plays and musicals, packing out houses and winning awards. In 2012 they won both the All-Ireland Confined Drama Final and Ulster Drama Final with The 39 Steps. For Constellations they will perform a number from their recent hit musical Calendar girls, as well as two other surprise pieces, you’ll have to come along to find out what !

Originally established in the 1990s, the Rainbow Theatre Group returned to Letterkenny in May 2022 with a vibrant new young cast to present That’s Entertainment 2022 under the Direction of Mary Lane and Audrey Coyle.

The Lifford Players are a cross-border cross-community drama group that competes annually on the Irish and Ulster amateur drama circuits. Lifford Players have appeared in the All-Ireland Open Drama Finals a total of 31 times, winning it on three occasions – 1982, 1985, 1987.

Triumph Performing Arts give top class engaging workshops in dance and drama to young people from ages 4 to 18 years. Their aim is to help develop confidence, unleash each individual’s inner artist and develop fitness in a fun and inclusive environment. Since completing a Masters Degree in professional acting from Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts London, the founder and director Andrea Emmett has provided opportunities for performers in Donegal, and has also invite trained professionals to facilitate classes across Donegal. For Constellations there will be singing from Ella Mc Laughlin and Amy Galvin and their group of dancers will perform contemporary and commercial dance routines. They hope you enjoy their performance as much as they’ve loved creating it! 

An Grianán Youth Theatre is a member of Youth Theatre Ireland and provides classes and opportunities from ages 4 to 18 under the guidance of facilitator Nora Kavanagh, with the emphasis on fun, confidence and performance, most recently with the show A Vampire Story at An Grianán, and also taking part in the Derry Halloween Parade.
