Who is this class for?

  • Young people ages 13 to 19
  • Beginners
  • Students transitioning up from junior drama classes
  • Speech and drama students who want to stretch their acting by joining our ensemble
  • Students who are interested in acting but don’t feel quite ready to be in our next show this November.

Up for a challenge? If you are age 14 to 18, join our summer intensive instead where you can be part of the cast for our November production of A Vampire Story – see here for more details.

About An Grianán Youth Theatre

Our youth theatre runs weekly over the school year. We are affiliated with Youth Theatre Ireland, the national organisation for youth theatres in Ireland and our members have the opportunity to take part in events such as the National Festival for Youth Theatres, Young Critics and the National Youth Theatre.

Our lively, interactive workshops focus on confidence building exercises, improvisation and teamwork. Beginners are welcome while more experienced students will have an opportunity to build on existing skills as well as learning new techniques using a variety of drama games and exercises.

As students progress we will concentrate on developing performance skills such as voice, movement, characterisation, improvisation, ensemble and devising.

The classes are as much about the process as they are about the final showcase and performance.

Past productions include an immersive version of Bugsy Malone, an outdoor version of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland at Glenveagh National Park, Blackadder Goes Forth for the Earagail Arts Festival. Our next production is A Vampire Story this November.

Past members include writer Karen Quinn, Tadhg Brennan (Ballet Ireland), actors Patrick Quinn (REVVED) and Amybeth McNulty (Anne with an E, Stranger Things).

Yearly Membership fee: €120
