WE NEED YOU

At An Grianán, we are passionate about creating exceptional live theatre experiences for our community.

Our mission is to bring together people from all walks of life through the power of storytelling, music, and performance. But we need your help to improve the experience and continue to entertain in the best environment possible.

We have been sitting on our auditorium seats for 25 years now and while they have served us well, they need replaced…

When fundraising for the building took places in 1999, it took the entire community.

Now, in our 25th year, we are asking the community to come together once more to help improve our theatre for the next generation.

WHY SPONSOR A SEAT?

When you sponsor a seat, you’re not just donating money — you’re making an investment in the future of live theatre and the cultural enrichment of our community and securing the theatre for the next generation.

Your contribution will go directly toward maintaining and enhancing the theatre’s infrastructure, helping us bring in world-class performances, and ensuring that we remain a vital part of the arts scene for years to come.

There are a number of reasons why you might want to sponsor a seat:

  • Pay tribute to a loved one
  • Commemorate an anniversary
  • Celebrate a milestone
  • Birthday present
  • Advertise your brand
  • Support the arts in Donegal

You will also receive a special certificate of sponsorship which will include your dedication & seat number.  We will acknowledge your generous donation on our list of supporters online and also in our lower foyer.

An Grianán Theatre is a registered charity (Charity Registration No. 20039585)

OUR TARGET

The cost of renovations is €450,000 which is a huge number but thanks to the Community Recognition Fund 2024, we are delighted to announce that we have been awarded €200,000 from the fund, for auditorium seating and renovations.  We are thrilled to have received this funding and it will help with the overall cost of renovations.

As we set our sights on the future here An Grianán we strive to have the best experience for our audience members when they visit and this fund will help us on the way to do that. We have a long way to go but we are grateful to have this head start on our fundraising.

This fund is administered by the Department of Rural and Community Development.

Corporate sponsorship:

Corporate sponsorship is €1000.  Your company’s logo will be displayed on a plaque attached to the seat, giving you great exposure to theatre-goers.  The sponsorship is eligible for tax relief, offering a financial benefit for your business.  By becoming a sponsor, you’ll help ensure that the theatre remains a cultural hub for the community for years to come, all while showcasing your support for the arts and local culture.

TAX RELIEF

The Charitable Donation Scheme allows tax relief on qualifying donations made to approved bodies. If an individual donates €250 or more in a year, the approved body can claim a refund of tax paid on that donation.  An Grianán can claim tax relief on donations so that your contribution can go even further at no extra cost to you.

If a company donates €250 or more in a year, the company can claim a tax deduction as if the donation was a trading expense. There is a four year time limit for making a claim under this scheme.

EXAMPLE 1

Joan donates €1,000 to an approved body in 2020. The approved body can claim a refund of the tax Joan has paid.

The tax rate is 31%, so this means that the donation of €1,000 is 69% of the total donation.

To calculate the relief, the total donation is grossed up as follows: (€1000/69) x 100 = €1449.27.

The refund amount that can be claimed by the approved body is €449.27.

Once Joan has completed either the Enduring Certificate or Annual Certificate, the approved body can claim the refund.

EXAMPLE 2

Company X donates €1,000 to an approved body in 2020. The Corporation Tax rate is 12.5%, so the relief that the company can claim is €125 (€1,000 x 12.5%).

The approved body has the benefit of receiving €1,000, but the cost to the company of making the donation is only €875 (€1,000 – €125). The company simply claims a tax deduction on the donation as if it were a trading expense.
