Delivering social commentary through his unique contemporary take on traditional Irish folk, Dempsey has often been compared to the likes of Christy Moore, Luke Kelly, and Shane MacGowan.
Breaking through in the 90s, Dempsey combined his love for traditional Irish music with other influences including hip-hop and electronic sounds to create his own style of folk music.
2023 has also seen the first new music from Damien since 2018’s sublime Union album. Hope Calling is the first single from his yet untitled 2024 new album which will be released via Sony Ireland.
