The Strand Cinema is acclaimed DJ and producer Phil Kieran’s breathtakingly ambitious live fusion of electronic music with classical orchestration and projected film – a love letter to the legendary Belfast movie palace, and a show to remember.
Accompanied by members of the Ulster Orchestra, the music comes from Kieran’s The Strand Cinema album, recorded in tribute to the iconic art deco cinema building, The Strand, where Phil’s recording studio is based. Artists from across the worlds of film, animation, architecture, computer science and dance have created a dazzling visual accompaniment, exploring the balance between nature and technology.
Phil Kieran has been in the upper echelons of electronic music, working as a prolific and industry-respected DJ, music producer, collaborator, remixer and composer for film, theatre and media since the noughties. A stirring and beautiful record, The Strand Cinema seamlessly traverses the worlds of contemporary classical to beautifully elevated dance music with a cinematic spin.
Presented as part of Sound! Soundtrack Film Festival 2024, a festival that celebrates the art of music and sound in film, via a series of film screenings, live performances, workshops and interactive events. Sound! is presented by Regional Cultural Centre in partnership with An Grianán Theatre.
