A new programming partnership between the Regional Cultural Centre and An Grianán Theatre will see live music return to An Grianán’s Auditorium for the first time since lockdown.

Music Network’s exciting collaboration between Ye Vagabonds and Cormac Begley, will perform at An Grianán Theatre on Saturday 26th September. It will be the first show in a unique partnership between the two organisations with performers performing live in the auditorium to a small audience, while also being streamed online.

Tickets for the show will be €20/15 to attend, or €5 to live stream it. Tickets will be on sale online on Tuesday 2nd September from 10am. Groups will be limited to a maximum of 6 people, from 3 households as per Government guidelines.

“We have to find new ways of working under the current restrictions so it makes a lot of sense for the theatre to pool our knowledge and resources with our colleagues in the RCC in this way” said Patricia McBride, Director of An Grianán Theatre. “Our cafe reopened on August 10th and this is the next step in getting us back doing what we do so well, providing the people of Donegal with high quality entertainment in a safe and enjoyable environment. I’m really pleased to have live performances back on the stage and we have more small scale shows planned too. The number one priority for us in this is, as always, the health and safety of the audience, performers and staff.”

Jeremy Howard, General Manager of the Regional Cultural Centre said: “The RCC has had great success in live streaming some of Donegal’s finest musicians over the past fives months but watching a concert at home will never fully replace the authentic ‘live experience’. We’re delighted to team up with An Grianán Theatre and to be able to present the best of both worlds. We’ll continue to offer people live music ‘in the flesh’ but also keep developing innovative ways of watching concerts from the comfort of your home. Expect plenty of more concert opportunities soon!”

Ye Vagabonds are singers, multi instrumentalists and triple RTÉ Radio 1 Folk awardees, brothers Diarmuid and Brían Mac Gloinn. With trademark close harmony singing, lean and tasty accompaniment and the rare ability to tell a good story in song, they cast their magic spells and remind us of how precious live music is. Cormac Begley is a solo bass, baritone, treble and piccolo concertina player from a West-Kerry musical family. He was nominated for the RTE Radio 1 ‘Folk Instrumentalist of the Year’ in 2018 and 2019 and his debut solo has received nine 5-star reviews and was shortlisted for the Irish Times Album of the Year 2018.
