An Grianán Theatre has installed a new Sennheiser assistive listening system into its auditorium, which is a significant upgrade on the previous loop system. It’s part of our ongoing commitment to accessibility at the theatre.
Sennheiser MobileConnect is an assistive and personal listening solution that streams live audio content via WiFi to any Apple or Android phone. It is an easy-to-use and intuitive system that allows you to control the volume personally. The app is compatible with headphones, and with hearing aids and cochlear implants via Bluetooth.
Where the performers are using microphones the system will broadcast directly from the output of the mixing desk, so the app will receive the same sound mix that is outputted to the rest of the auditorium. When the performers are not using microphones a number of strategically placed microphones around the stage will pick up the sound which will be relayed by the amplifier and the app. The purchase of the system was made possible by a grant from the Arts Council’s Capacity Building Scheme 2022.
