An exciting new festival is on the way to Letterkenny. Presented by the Regional Cultural Centre and An Grianán Theatre, Sound! is a new weekend-long festival that celebrates the art of music and sound in film, via a series of film screenings, live performances, workshops and interactive events.
Highlights will include screenings of a series of choice celluloid classics, presented with live musical scores, from the silent vampire classic Nosferatu (1923) to the Russian sci-fi masterpiece Solaris (1972).

Other highlights include Irish National Opera’s ‘virtual reality opera’ Out Of The Ordinary and a special presentation of Ireland’s Oscar contender An Cailín Ciúin, along with talks, workshops and a special family presentation of classic silent film comedy shorts with live musical accompaniment.
Here at An Grianán we’ll be hosting the opening concert with the Donegal Chamber Orchestra who will present an evening of movie inspired classics. They’ll be joined by guests on piano, percussion, local choirs and tango dancers for this family friendly event which will include music from Hollywood classics such as ‘The Mission’, ‘Amadeus’, ‘Titanic’ as well as Disney favourites old and new.
The festival runs from 27 to 30 April 2023 – see events here.
